How To Make Cosplay Armor

Making cosplay armor is easy, and we will show you how to make it. Want to dress like a Halo soldier, Vageta from Dragonball Z, Gundam Wing, or another anime that involves a character in full body armor. Here are some suggestions. The materials don't matter, and with a little creativity you can use common materials in your design such as VHS tapes for shoulder pads(stacked one on top of the other), pvc pipe, flexible pipe(to look like wire). Just remember that you want it to be as light as possible if you are going to be walking around it all day. You also want to make it breathable so you aren't a human torch.

Here are the materials we recommend using:

marine or styrofoam
fiberglass and resin
Other materials as suggested above(common objects that can be covered in fiberglass)
Paint
fabric

To start you will need a character, but we will leave that to you for choosing. Than you might want to sketch out your design for further observation that you can use while sculpting. During this process decide is this full body armor, or armor more like football players wear. Will it matter what is worn underneath the armor? Will your clothing be seen? If you can see clothing you will need to purchase or make clothing first. We won't go into that in this article.

Next you will need foam cutters. Or you can make them (look online for more details). Sculpt out the details in foam. Trust me foam cutters which is basically hot wire will cut the foam like butter. Make places for straps and other details to be glued or fiberglassed in.

Once this is done attach straps or extras, by gluing them on or whatever. This includes pipes, blocks, etc. Don't forget weight considerations. Spray paint the foam with a thic layer of paint or foam finish. This will allow you to lay the fiberglass on the foam without it melting(this part is just for styrofoam, marine foam doesn't matter).

Next lay the fiberglass. You will need to lay 3-5 layers, and stick it on and use a paint brush to dab the fiberglass resin on. You can get it at walmart, lowes, marine shops, online, etc. Once this is done it will need to sit for at least 24 hours. Than spray paint or use an airbrush for the fine details.

Finally add any embellishments, paint the finer details, glue fabric on the inside edges for better comfort, and try it on. Impress your friends as cosplay infamy shall be yours.

The process is easy and the only hard part is having a sewing machine that can handle leather. The process involves sewing leather, making a pattern, wrapping lenses in leather, dying the leather, and using your cosplay imagination. This process can be used for many different cosplay processes. Don't pay high prices for cosplay goggles, make them yourself. That's a part of the fun of cosplay. Costume Cosplay To Be At Fandemonium Convention In Nampa Idaho

Costume Cosplay will be attending Fandemonium convention 2009 in Nampa Idaho in the month of August. We are dressing in a soon to be revealed costume. The reason for the secrecy is because of an agreed upon promotion with a very large Anime Franchise that is launching a new spin off of their well received cartoon. I can't say any more than that, but just know that it is going to be very hot, and steal the show!

With the cosplay display at the convention we will also have a good surprise for the fans of this website including how to videos on making your own cosplay costume for the TOP SECRET reveal, tons of photos, free giveaways and more, so stay tuned.

We plan to shoot video and photos of the whole convention also.

In other words its going to be big and we are really excited. Fandemonium starts August 7th, 2009, and we hope to see you there!

What is Cosplay Tag?

What is Cosplay Tag? It is a small internet sensation going around the web usually on Youtube. If you are tagged by another cosplayer online, you must post on a forum, website, blog, or in a youtube video(wearing your favorite costume of course!) the following:

1. Introduce yourself.

3. How long have you been cosplay?
4. How many cosplay costumes have you done?
5. How did you get your costumes?
6. What was your First cosplay?
7. What is your favourite cosplay and why?
8. What is the most favourite thing about cosplay?

After you have done your cosplay tag online, you need to tag 4 other cosplayers either on or offline that must do the same thing.

It is basically a fun way to meet other cosplayers, "come out of the closet" , and an excuse to show off and wear your costume.

How To Make Cosplay Costumes Patterns

It's alright buying cosplay costumes, but if you want to be a Mandorivian God at the convention then you need to know how to make custom costumes, or have a ton of money to buy custom tailored cosplay, which is not possible for most. That's where this article comes in. Making a costume is easier then you think. It's just a matter of having the right material and tools, and having a little bit of an artistic eye. Oh yeah, and patience!

The material you will need is paper(preferably in large rolls, go to the fabric store, they got tons of it for cheap), permanent markers, pencils, and fabric.

The tools you will need include a sewing machine, thread, needles, fabric glue, foam, pencils, markers and paper and other stuff for accessories such as bracelets or weapons. Those are for another article. We are focusing just on the clothing part here. You will also need a measuring tape.

You will need to first have an idea of what you want. The best steps are to pick a character, than find a picture online of the costume you want, or sketch your own. It's best if you can find a frontal view, back view, and side view. Try to identify all layers and attention to detail. It's best to make a list at this point of the kinds of fabric you will need and all the colors. To estimate the amount you need measure your body at the neck, chest, hips, biceps and legs and then add at least 3 yards per 2 feet for errors(It will save you time and trips to the store).

To create the pattern sketch out these measurements. The best way to figure this out is determine every seam in the fabric piece. Are they on the sides like pants, or down the middle like a wizard's hat? Add a quarter inch on each side for the seams. The seams are where you will sew.

Once your pattern is made, make photo copies in case you make mistakes, and then cut out the fabric. Comparing it to your body, wrapping it around, etc. will give you an idea if you are doing it correctly or not.

Next sew everything together, whether by hand or machine.

Finally, wear it to the convention and gloat in your sexiness, as the peons become jealous.
